NOVA has announced that their annual Backyard Cricket at Kirribilli House is returning on Wednesday, October 4.
They will be raising money for Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney (RMHCS) as well as Batyr Australia.
Teams will be captained by Fitzy and Kate, with Wippa taking on the commentary box. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will take part again with NSW Premier Chris Minns also joining alongside a number of other stars.
This year’s match will be streamed as a mini-match on Kayo, allowing viewers to catch up on all the highlights.
The team revealed the match on Friday morning:
Wippa: A little bit of laughter there from the Premier Chris Minns, as we join you here in the studio coming to you live from Pyrmont this morning.
Fitzy: What’s wrong with his mic?
Kate: He looks like Madonna
Wippa: Can you not interrupt me when I’m rehearsing for my commentary role? I’m the commentator on the day as my captaincy has been handed to Kate Ritchie. I sit here now with my Madonna mic already to commentate as we test the wicket and it’s looking like a great day for cricket.
Fitzy: You don’t know anything about cricket, this is what I’m worried about, the terms, you don’t know the jargon that goes with…
Wippa: Ooh that looks like it’s gone down to silly mid off. How did that go? Does that make any sense?
Fitzy: Silly mid offs right next to them, standing right there
Kate: If you say things with conviction I don’t think it really matters what you say does it?
Wippa: Just generic sport stuff Kate, like I can’t believe how the match has started. Oh my god the pace of the game has been quick. The turnouts larger than expected well. I can tell you what the game plan I’m seeing today is above I think what we all thought would happen.
Kate: What about this one? Try this one. Oh, and Kate Richie is hit them for a six
Wippa: Oh and Kate Ritchie hit them for six. Wow, what a start from Kate Ritchie.
Fitzy: That’s just as you’re arriving at Kirribilli house. We haven’t even started the game
Wippa: As a bit of a rehearsal for my … It’s quite hard to adopt the cricket voice, the commentary voice because it’s very much an observational thing instead of the hype of say a football commentator so I’m working on this. And last night I thought why not sort of get it underway and start getting ready for October 4 so. I just did some commentary around the house. I needed a crowd I needed some action that was there in the kitchen.
Kate: How irritating for the family
Wippa: it wasn’t irritating. I think I did a great job. This was at dinner last night just as the meal was arriving and being served. All right at the moment. We’ve been waiting for plating up. Greens now caught minimum all hell fresh to the plate seven nicely ripened anniversary dinner. Who would have thought we’d see such a treat today. As the pan goes down, the fan gets turned off coming in for the delivery. What a beautiful meal.
