Channel Seven announced it will reboot the iconic This Is Your Life as a series of special events produced by ITV Studios Australia.
The beloved series will place the spotlight on some of the nation’s most successful, admired and fascinating characters.
The show will share revealing insights, emotional reunions and never-before-seen footage from their closest colleagues, friends and family, including international names and stellar surprise performers.
Seven’s director of network programming, Angus Ross, said: “This Is Your Life was an iconic and incredibly successful show for many years. The time feels right for it to return.
“We can’t wait to bring the format into 2022, engaging both new viewers and the generations of Australians who remember the show fondly and will welcome its return,” he added.
ITV Studios Australia CEO and managing director, David Mott, said: “We are honoured to be producing the return of this nostalgic and warm-hearted format that is so well known to Australian television.
“It will be a true celebration, along with a few surprises, of our iconic Australians and much-loved personalities, where everyone can come together to enjoy these special event nights on Seven. There has never been a better time to highlight great Australians than right now.”
Sabrina Duguet, EVP APAC for All3Media International, said: “The appeal of This Is Your Life is timeless and we’re delighted to now represent the Ralph Edwards Production show.
“The series has focused on the famous and everyday extraordinary people throughout its incarnation, in a refreshingly simple, honest manner to celebrate life and the positive impact lives have on each other.
“We are thrilled that Seven and ITV Studios Australia will be bringing the show to Australian audiences this year,” she added.
A host is yet to be announced.
This Is Your Life first aired on Channel Seven in 1975 with the late Mike Willesee as the host.
The show was then successfully rebooted on rival network Channel Nine in 1995 with Mike Munro at the helm for 13 years. It was revived again in 2011 with Eddie McGuire, but was axed after just four episodes.
In the past, This Is Your Life has presented the life and times of Australian greats such as cricketer Adam Gilchrist, media doyenne Ita Buttrose and the late Steve Irwin.
