Commonwealth Bank (CBA) has announced the appointment of Kylie Smith as the executive general manager of corporate affairs.
Smith begins her new role with the bank on March 7 and brings with her more than 25 years of experience in corporate marketing and communications in Australian financial services.
Her most recent roles include principal of KMS Advisory and digital and marketing for MLC Wealth at National Australia Bank where she was responsible for corporate affairs, marketing, communications, digital, product disclosure and customer complaints.
She was also group executive marketing and corporate affairs at Perpetual Limited for just over five years. Smith also had earlier senior leadership positions in corporate affairs at Westpac and BT Financial Group.
Her appointment comes after the CBA recently announced of Jo Bundy as the new chief marketing officer, starting on March 28.
Monique Macleod, CBA’s group executive, said of the appointments: “I’m looking forward to welcoming Kylie and Jo to CommBank’s Marketing and Corporate Affairs Leadership team”
“Both Kylie and Jo are very well respected leaders, who will bring a depth of strategic thinking, creativity, and a proven track record of delivery to our team.
“Their values and enthusiasm for leading and developing talent will play a significant role in helping us deliver our ambitious agenda for the future.”
Macleod said of Bundy’s earlier appointment: “I’m thrilled we have been able to attract a person of Jo’s talent to be our next Chief Marketing Officer.
“Jo has more than 20 years global experience, having led marketing, customer, communication, digital and entertainment teams at a number of large commercial organisations including Optus, British Telecom, Google and, of course, Qantas, from where she joins us and played a key part in the group’s brand and marketing strategies.”
She added: “Earlier this year, Jo was recognised by CMO Australia and CMO50 as the number one CMO in 2021 and I am delighted we will benefit from her broad range of experience and capabilities, as well as her energy and enthusiasm.”
