Macquarie Media yesterday announced that Brian Wilshire, who hosts 2GB’s overnight program, will leave the station after a 46-year career in radio.
Wilshire, who hosts the weeknight show from 12.00am to 3.30am, is leaving 2GB and heading north to concentrate on writing his next book. Wilshire has already published four books, including bestseller The Fine Print. His last overnight program will be on Friday 11 December.
“After 46 fantastic years in radio, I’ve finally decided that it’s time for a break to look after my health and finish that next book,” Wilshire said.
Macquarie Media Sydney operations director Paul Bowd said: “Brian has enjoyed an incredibly long and successful career in radio and achieved some enviable milestones. While we’ll miss him in the 2GB studio, we wish Brian all the very best for the future.”
Wilshire’s replacement will be announced shortly.
