The TV WEEK Logie Awards have announced that Australian television industry titan and cultural and creative pioneer, Brian Walsh, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame next Sunday 30 July at The Star, Sydney.
The TV WEEK Logie Award Hall of Fame honours people and programs that have helped shape the most influential medium of our time and recognises an outstanding contribution to Australian television.
Walsh is credited for the global success of the iconic series Neighbours and for launching the careers of Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan and Guy Pearce.
In 1995, Walsh was a key member of the management team that established Australian subscription television with the launch of Foxtel. Walsh worked at Foxtel for nearly three decades where he oversaw all scripted and unscripted commissions for the Foxtel Group including Wentworth, Upright, Deadline Gallipoli, The Kettering Incident, The End and The Twelve.
Brian Walsh passed away on March 16 this year and at the time was serving in the role of executive director of Drama at Foxtel Group.
Amy Shark will also be performing her new single, Can I Shower At Yours, next Sunday at the TV WEEK Logie Awards. Amy has amassed close to 1 billion combined global streams with multiple platinum certified hits including Adore, I Said Hi and Mess Her Up. Amy is also nominated for the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent for her role as a judge on Seven’s Australian Idol.
Also confirmed to appear on the night are ARIA Award-winning electronic party-starters, Peking Duk. With 26 x Platinum accreditations, over half a billion combined streams, and 7 x Top 40 ARIA singles, Peking Duk will perform a medley of some of their greatest hits alongside some exciting surprise guests.
The 63rd TV WEEK Logie Awards will be broadcast exclusively on Channel Seven and 7plus on Sunday, 30 July from 7:00 pm.
