• Branagh’s Belfast made an impressive leap from sixth to third spot

The Australian box office made $9.33 million, down -11% from last week as Uncharted retains the top spot as the highest-grossing film over the weekend.

Now in its second week, the Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg action/adventure film grossed $4.19 million and an average of $7,665 across 547 screens.

In second place in the rankings is Death on the Nile, directed by and starring Sir Kenneth Branagh, which also held the same spot last week.

Belfast, also directed by Branagh, made an impressive jump over the weekend leaping into the third spot after it placed sixth last week.

Jackass Forever slipped down from third to the fourth spot and brought down with it romantic comedy Marry Me from fourth to fifth place.

Dropping out of the top fifth is Spider-Man: No Way Home, which managed to make $440,473 over the weekend 11 weeks since its Australian premiere. 

#1 Uncharted, $4.19 million

The action-adventure maintained it’s top spot on the Australian movie chart over the weekend. The film is based on the popular video game series that was inspired by Indiana Jones and other classic adventure films.

In its second week it grossed $7,665 across 547 screens and grossed more than $10.89 million since its debut.

#2 Death on the Nile, $843,435

Branagh directs the film and plays the famed Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, alongside Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright.

The star-studded murder-mystery is based on the 1937 Agatha Christie novel of the same title. The film averaged $2,503 across 337 screens and keeping it’s hold in the second spot.

 #3 Belfast, $565,219

The second Branagh feature, starring Jamie Dornan and Caitriona Balfe, has garnered plenty of award season hype with a slew of nominations across a range of categories, including best picture for the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild and BAFTAs.

The semi-autobiographical film set in the late 1960s in the Northern Ireland capital, earned an average of $2,884 across 196 screens over the weekend, likely with many viewers wanting to see if the movie lived up to the hype.

#4 Jackass Forever, $526,832

Despite dropping down one spot, audiences were still keen on watching Johnny Knoxville and company’s painful yet hilarious antics.

The slapstick comedy made $2,066 across 255 over the weekend. In the four weeks since its release, Jackass Forever has made $6.5million.

#5 Marry Me, $470,819

Rounding out the top five is the Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson romantic comedy Marry Me. While it has received mixed reviews from critics, audiences have enjoyed seeing the unlikely yet loveable Lopez and Wilson tandem.

Over the weekend it made $1,670 across 282 screens. In the three weeks since its debut it has made $3.25 million.
