Remaining stationed at the top spot for the fourth week in a row is Sony’s Bullet Train starring Brad Pitt. Despite a -25% fall from the week before, the film managed to take the #1 spot, bringing in just under $1 million this past weekend.
In its debut week, André Rieu’s 2022 Maastricht Concert: Happy Days are Here Again! claimed the second spot, bringing in $924k. This concert sees Dutch violinist and conductor, André Rieu return to his hometown of Maastricht to perform after a two-year hiatus.
Top Gun: Maverick cannot be shaken, moving up the ranks in its 14th week. Tom Cruise’s legacy sequel placed third, as the film, which is the third-highest grossing film in Australia, grossed $628k.
Jordan Peele’s Nope has moved from second to fourth, dropping -47% this past weekend. Nope follows two ranch-owning siblings who attempt to capture evidence of an unidentified flying object.
Starring Idris Elba, survival thriller Beast came in at fourth in its first week on screens.
Falling out of the box office top five for the first time in five weeks is Where The Crawdads Sing, which has grossed over $10 million to date, and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, grossing $1.2 million to date.
#1, Bullet Train, $978,509
In its fourth week, Bullet Train, directed by David Leitch averaged $2,733 across 358 screens to bring in over $1.3 million. In addition to Pitt, the film stars Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Andrew Koji, Hiroyuki Sanada, Michael Shannon, Benito A. Martínez Ocasio, and Sandra Bullock. So far, the action comedy has cashed in over $9 million.
#2, André Rieu’s 2022 Maastricht Concert: Happy Days are Here Again!, $923,989
After two long years, maestro André Rieu performs from his hometown of Maastricht once again. The film brought in an average of $5,961 across 155 screens.
#3, Top Gun: Maverick, $628,693
Tom Cruise stars alongside Jennifer Connelly, Val Kilmer, Miles Teller, Glen Powell and Jon Hamm, in the sequel to the original 1986 film. The film averaged $2,515 across 250 screens and has grossed over $89 million, making it the third highest-grossing movie of all time in Australia.
#4, Nope, 503,998
Starring Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Steven Yeun, the latest film by Peele remained at second for another week. It averaged $1,720 across 293 screens and has brought in over $3.94 million to date.
#5, Beast, $493,860
Starring Idris Elba, Iyana Halley, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Sharlto Copley, Nate Daniels and his two teenage daughters visit a South African game reserve and must fight to survive when they are stalked by a vicious lion. In its debut week, the film brought in $1,578 across 313 screens.
