For the fifth consecutive week, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has topped the Australian box office charts, bringing in $1.2 million, a fall of -29% from the weekend before. The highly-anticipated Marvel sequel to Black Panther (2018) is the 30th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Universal’s Violent Nights has moved up the charts from third to second in its second week. The Christmas action-comedy film stars David Harbour as Santa Claus, who fights mercenaries who have taken a wealthy family hostage in their home. This past weekend, the film grossed $616k.
Walt Disney’s The Menu has come in at third in its third week. The comedy horror film focuses on a group of diners at an exclusive restaurant who discover the celebrity chef owner intends to kill them all before the night is out. The film has grossed over $3 million to date.
In its third week, Strange World remained at fourth. The film stars the voices of Jake Gyllenhaal, Dennis Quaid, Jaboukie Young-White, Gabrielle Union, and Lucy Liu, and follows the Clades, a family of explorers who set aside their differences as they embark on a journey to a mysterious land inhabited by creatures in order to save a resource called the Pando from losing its energy power source.
In its seventh week, Warner Bros’ Black Adam has sat at fifth for another week, bringing in $157k. The 11th instalment in the DC Extended Universe stars Dwayne Johnson (who also served as a producer) as the titular character alongside Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, Bodhi Sabongui, and Pierce Brosnan.
