Merivale’s Mimi’s and Kylie Kwong’s Lucky Kwong star this week.
As agencies and media companies return to the office in force this year, Mediaweek columnist, and legendary Sydney diner, Greg Graham updates the Mediaweek audience with establishments that should be on their lunch list.
On the Corporate Expense account for a VIP client:
Mimi’s – Coogee
WOW, I’ve been transported to the Mediterranean coast, and it’s pure luxury. The dining room is beautiful, the food outstanding, and the service first class in a non-pretentious way. So glad I’m using the corporate AMEX card and dining with an important client. Part of the Merivale group.
The dish you must try: the handpicked spanner crab, preserved lemon mayo, chives & salted brioche.
Nobu – Crown Barangaroo
Blending the finest Japanese with some classics and local produce it’s hard to go past Nobu. The dining experience is stylish and sophisticated overlooking the water at Barangaroo.
The dish you must try: the Nobu tacos especially the Lobster wasabi sour cream and wagyu beef.
Fun team lunch
Lotus – Barangaroo
A fun Asian sharing experience with great dumplings and a good menu including seafood and fresh local produce.
The dish you must try: BBQ duck with mandarin pancakes and five-spice hoisin sauce.
Lucky Kwong – South Everleigh
The food is simple, locally sourced, delicious, and made by hand with so much attention and dare I say, love. Kylie Kwong serves the best dumplings in Australia and also the steamed savory pancakes are incredible.
The dish you must try: Steamed spanner crab & prawn dumplings
Brekkie Favorites
Paramount Coffee Project – Surry Hills
A buzzy spot with a seasonal menu with Asian and American influence that will kick-start your day. I’m a fan of the vanilla malt milkshake.
My favourite dish is the bke roll with garlic scrambled egg, crispy bacon, and BBQ sauce on a milk bun with American cheese.
Pina – Potts Point
A cool laneway café with great brekkie food and fresh juices.
My favourite dish is the sensational scrambled eggs that are out of this world.
Cheap & cheerful lunch with crew & I’m paying for myself
Captain Cook – Millers Point
Usual pub classics with good steaks from the grill, a few favourites such as schnitty, a seafood basket, and the best burgers.
The Greenwood Hotel – North Sydney
Good selection of pub food with great pizzas, beer-battered barra & chips plus another great burger selection.
