The series is based on the popular video game The Last of Us, and takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed.

Pascal plays Joel, a hardened survivor who is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie, played by Ramsey, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.

The nine-episode series features Australian stars Anna Torv (Fringe) as Tess, a smuggler and fellow hardened survivor and Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus) as Frank, a post-pandemic survivalist.

The Last of Us premieres on 16 January on Binge, with new episodes dropping every Monday.
