Big Brother will be back on Australian screens in 2023, with Seven putting out the call for potential single housemates to apply.
Applicants must be 18 years old or older as of the 31st June 2022, an Australian Citizen or permanent resident, and available for an audition with producers in September.
Applicants will also need to be available for around 5 to 7 weeks for the shoot, which is currently pencilled in for late October 2022.
In the most recent season of the show, a total of 21 new and returning housemates, ranging in age from 22-52, entered the custom-built house throughout the season with the aim of surviving every eviction and living together for 62 days.
Reggie Sorensen eventually came out on top, being crowned the winner and becoming the first Housemate to ever win the show twice. Entering the house as Big Brother royalty, Reggie won the third season in 2003.
The final three contestants in the Big Brother finale were Reggie, and newbie contestants Taras and Johnson.
Reggie was joined onstage by her kids Mia and Lucas, and sister Anita at the Grand Final in Sydney, hosted by Sonia Kruger.
When asked what she’ll do with the prize money, Reggie said: “I’m gonna use that money to put a roof over our heads.”
Since taking out the title in season three, Reggie has been dealt her fair share of ups and downs. Her son was born with cystic fibrosis and her own vision is drastically deteriorating with a condition called retinitis pigmentosa, meaning she currently only has nine degrees of central vision. She likens it to looking through two narrow drinking straws.
The finale of Big Brother Australia 2022 drew a crowd of 750,000, lifting 28% in total TV from its 363,000 overnight viewers.
The closing date for applications is 5pm on Sunday (Sydney/Eastern Standard Time), September 10th, 2022.
