BBC Studios and ABC sign multi-year, multi-genre agreement

BBC Studios Australia and New Zealand have signed a multi-year, multi-genre agreement with ABC, giving the public broadcaster access to a range of content that will be seen on ABC channels and streaming service ABC iview. 

The deal covers some of the biggest titles in factual entertainment, drama, comedy, science, history and kids, paving the way for the best-loved stars and shows from the UK.

This includes the latest titles from award-winning documentary maker Louis Theroux and physicist professor Brian Cox and the forthcoming documentary series Frida on the life of artist Frida Kahlo.

ABC will also take its first run on comedies like supernatural sitcom Ghosts, now in its fourth season, and Adam Hill’s satirical insight into world events, The Last Leg.

The deal also secures the future of beloved dramas such as Silent Witness, Death in Paradise, Unforgotten and Call The Midwife on ABC, with the broadcaster continuing to have access to the hugely popular shows and the highly-anticipated final series of Smother

In kids, ABC will continue to take first run on Horrible Histories and second run on loveable dog Hey Duggee and titles featuring top British kids presenter Andy Day.
