A strong wind could easily knock B105 breakfast funny guy Stav Davidson over. He’s tall, lanky, all arms and legs, and absolutely not known for any form of fitness, let alone boxing.
Yet on Saturday night, Stav Davidson fought in his first ever boxing match, against a real life opponent – and he did it to raise money for the Small Steps 4 Hannah Foundation, which was founded by the Clarke family after the horrific murder of their daughter by her husband. The Clarkes are very close to Stav’s breakfast co-host Abby Coleman, and when she asked Stav to quite literally fight for this cause, he was in. That was 10 weeks ago. Father to Rori and wife to Kat, Stav’s had 10 weeks to learn to box, get fit, and arrive fight-ready.
Saturday’s fight was held at the Royal International Convention Centre, RNA Showgrounds, hosted by Fight For A Cause.
In a nod to Stav’s Scottish heritage – he was born there – he was walked out by the Queensland Police Pipes & Drums mini-band (2 bagpipers and 2 drummers) – accompanied by three Scottish Dancers.
In the end, he bled. Davidson was bested by a technicality – after he began suffering a torrential nosebleed in the second round, his opponent Will Cruice was deemed the winner.
