Australia’s Got Talent returns this Sunday, 9 October on Channel Seven and 7plus and with it, new and returning judges are ready to hit the golden buzzer.
David Walliams
David Walliams is one of Britain’s best-loved comedians. Little Britain, his creation with Matt Lucas, won numerous international awards including three BAFTAs and now plays in over 100 countries. It was followed by one of the most popular comedies of all time, Come Fly With Me. David has also been a judge on Britain’s Got Talent since 2012.
When asked what viewers can expect to see this year, Walliams said it’s pretty outrageous, but that’s why he loves the show so much.
“We also have a real range of talent. Before I was a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, I used to enjoy just watching it. I loved the craziness, the eccentric and bizarre acts – and we have got plenty of those. We also have some phenomenally talented people too. It is going to be a fantastic series,” he said.
Kate Ritchie
Kate Ritchie is one of Australia’s most recognised personalities with a career spanning over three decades, including two gold and three silver TV Week Logie Awards and an AFI Award nomination.
Ritchie said the stand-out auditions for her have been the ones that take you on an emotional ride.
“The ones that have caught me off guard and pieced together a story that has brought them to the stage, right now, with two minutes to change their lives. Whether that be the kids who have been perfecting a crazy skill in their bedroom, or the woman who has put her life and soul into the performance we see before us. Everyone is so passionate and brave. I have been in awe of countless performers who feel as though they’ve already won because they are doing something they truly love,” she said.
Alesha Dixon
Singer/songwriter, presenter and entertainer Alesha Dixon brings a wealth of experience to the Australia’s Got Talent judging panel, with a career spanning over two decades, including 10 seasons as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent and the 2020 season of America’s Got Talent: The Champions.
Dixon describes her judging style as very organic, in the moment and reactive.
“I find it hard to hide how I’m feeling. I feed off the energy in front of me. I don’t overthink or question my choices. I am slightly impatient but always kind. I root for the acts, encourage and want them to do well.”
Shane Jacobson
Shane Jacobson is one of Australia’s most-loved, award-winning actors, presenters and entertainers. His incredible and varied career spans 40 years both here and abroad. The successful film Kenny brought Shane worldwide recognition as well as an AFI Award for Best Lead Actor.
Jacobson believes the unexpected nature of the show is the reason for its success around the world.
“The Australia’s Got Talent stage is such a rare beast because of the variety. It welcomes anything and everything, as long as it’s interesting and/or entertaining. It has such a broad spectrum of talent and acts. I think that’s the secret.”
Australia’s Got Talent returns Sunday, 9 October at 7:00 pm on Channel Seven and 7plus.
