Australian actors Margot Robbie, Nicole Kidman and Geoffrey Rush have all bagged nominations for the 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Robbie has been nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role (Theatrical Motion Picture) category for her work in I, Tonya. She is in the running for the award alongside Judi Dench (Victoria & Abdul), Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water), Frances McDormand (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) and Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird). This is Robbie’s first individual actor nomination at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Nicole Kidman has been nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor ( TV Movie or Limited series) category for her portrayal of Celeste Wright in the HBO show Big Little Lies. The seven-episode series, which was created and written by David E. Kelley, dominates this category with Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern also getting a nomination each.
Actor Geoffrey Rush‘s portrayal of Albert Einstein as an eccentric genius in National Geographic’s Genius has earned him a nomination in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor (Television Movie or Limited Series) category. Rush also received a nomination for the Golden Globe Awards in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television category earlier this month.
Fox Searchlight received the most nominations in the theatrical motion pictures category. Meanwhile, Netflix has the most nominations across the television programs categories. Fox Searchlight has a total of seven nominations. Netflix has clocked up 19 nominations, ahead of HBO at 12.
The Awards function will take place on January 21 2018.
