After 21 episodes on Seven and 7plus, Royston was named as the new Idol in a Live Grand Finale.
The three finalists were introduced one last time on the episode by hosts Ricki Lee and Scott Tweedie to the judges Kyle Sandilands, Meghan Trainor, Amy Shark and Harry Connick Jr.
Australian voters had chosen 23-year-old Royston Sagigi-Baira, 15-year-old Phoebe Stewart, and 20-year-old Josh Hannan as the final three to compete for the Idol crown.
Seven first announced it had secured a licence for the reality series way back in October 2020.
