The hard-core gold prospectors of Outback Australia will return for a seventh season of Aussie Gold Hunters, premiering Thursday, 2nd June at 7.30pm AEST on Discovery.
For the first time in history, Australia is the biggest gold producer globally. Huge hauls and record prices are driving a 21st-century gold rush, fuelling competition from around the globe. In the brand-new season, the prospectors take the hunt to Australia’s final frontiers, where the veteran miners fight to keep their gold plants operating in the brutal outback conditions.
The hunt for gold will tear some teams apart this season and unite others in the hottest gold rush on earth. One crew travels to Palmer River gold fields in far North Queensland, where record amounts of gold have been discovered.
The area is home to the largest reptile on the planet, the Saltwater Crocodile, as well as the Western Taipan, a snake with the most toxic venom of any in the world, making it one of the most dangerous goldfields in Australia.
Meanwhile, The Poseidon crew will be faced with one of the biggest decisions of their careers; whether to sell up ‘The Big License’ and their entire operation to buy the historic Catto’s Paddock. This is the site where ‘The Precious’ was found in 1871, one of the biggest nuggets ever to be uncovered, weighing in at 1,621oz and worth an eye-watering 4 million dollars at today’s prices.
Aussie Gold Hunters is Discovery Australia’s most successful and highest rating local production on record. It has been the #1 Factual program on Foxtel (total people)* for four consecutive years. Season seven will clock up 100 episodes.
Aussie Gold Hunters (Season 7) is produced by Electric Pictures, with the assistance of Screenwest and Lotterywest, and VicScreen’s Regional Location Assistance Fund, and supported by the State Government of Western Australian through the Royalties for Regions Program and the Western Australian Screen Fund.
Aussie Gold Hunters (season 7) premieres Thursday, 2nd June at 7.30pm AEST on Discovery.
