'Familiar and nostalgic yet modern': Rip Curl, Abrand Jeans launch second collection via Asembl
Justin Watson: "It absolutely made sense to reunite the brands for this 2.0 collection."

Asembl has reunited with Rip Curl and Abrand Jeans for a new denim collection inspired by 80s surf culture.
The collection follows the brands' first launch last year and will roll out in retail and online across Australia, Europe and the US from September 2026.
The range draws from Rip Curl's 80s archive and Abrand Jeans' Y2K-inspired approach to denim, combining surf references with baggy silhouettes and the fits Abrand Jeans is known for.
The collection, ranging from AUD $59.95 to $169.95, spans men's and women's clothing.
Casey Egan, Rip Curl’s Head of Men’s Design, said: “It’s epic to see Abrand Jeans’ Co-Founder & Designer Andy Paltos and his crew come through our archives and put their denim twist on some iconic Rip Curl pieces. All the pieces are pretty rad and the co-brand makes perfect sense for us.”
Abrand Jeans Mens Designer and Developer Tasha Smith said: “I grew up in New Zealand with surf culture everywhere, in every direction. Alongside the rest of the Abrand Jeans team, it was exciting to work on this second round of our collab with Rip Curl.
"I wanted to lean into the nostalgia from the first drop, by diving deeper into OG Rip Curl wetsuit details and graphics.”

Justin Watson, Asembl Managing Director, said: “With both Rip Curl and Abrand Jeans deeply rooted in Australian culture and the incredible success of our first launch in 2025, it absolutely made sense to reunite the brands for this 2.0 collection.
"Familiar and nostalgic yet modern, this totally wearable trend-led denim range for the next generation speaks right to the heart of the adventure and free-spirited nature of both Rip Curl and Abrand Jeans.”
This collaboration comes after the dusk and Streets' fragrance collaboration into bath, body and personal care, which was brokered by Asembl for The Magnum Ice Cream Company.
