ARN has announced the launch of Share My Mood – a new mental health check-in app that will be available from today, Friday May 28. The brainchild of Will McMahon, one half of KIIS National Network’s Drive Show Will & Woody, the app is designed to make it easier to let others know how you are feeling.
Having lived with depression for most of his adult life, Will knows first-hand that conversations about mental health are important but they can also be tough. With this in mind, he developed the Share My Mood app to help people communicate their mood without actually needing to say anything.
The simple to use app lets users rate their mood on a sliding scale and then gives the option to share that via text with friends, family or colleagues. The app includes suggested texts that users can select to make it easy to let people know how they are feeling.
Created by Will and a core team at ARN, the Share My Mood app was developed in conjunction with a leading clinical psychologist, Gus Worland’s mental fitness charity Gotcha4Life and supported by Gotcha4Life corporate partner, Chemist Warehouse.
On the launch of the app Will said, “I know that one of the hardest things to do when you are experiencing mental health issues is to actually ask for help or even just let someone know that you are not OK. We use our phones every day to communicate without actually speaking and that’s what gave me the idea for the Share My Mood app. It’s a simple yet very effective way to communicate to friends and family how you are feeling. I’m really proud of what has been developed and I know it’s going to help a lot of people.”
ARN chief commercial officer Peter Whitehead said, “Conversations around mental health can be challenging but we know they can be life-saving which is why it was important to us to work with Will and our commercial partners Chemist Warehouse to create this app. It’s a demonstration that a strong partnership can create real world impact– going beyond campaign work to deliver meaningful connections and positive changes for our community of listeners.”
Chemist Warehouse general manager of sales, Ilias Babalis said, “As the ‘House of Wellness’, Chemist Warehouse is passionate about supporting Share My Mood and Gotcha4Life in the launch of the Share My Mood app. Providing individuals with a tool to help them share their feelings in a non-confronting way is paramount and will enable countless more people to have the courage to speak up.”
The Share My Mood app is available on both iPhone and Android.
