It’s a double win for American country music superstar Morgan Wallen, as he takes the #1 spot on both the ARIA Albums and Singles Charts, while everyone’s favourite blue heeler pup roars onto the albums chart.
With Last Night holding at #1 on the singles chart for the third straight week and One Thing At A Time reclaiming the title of the #1 album (for a second, non-consecutive week), Wallen becomes the first male American country singer to pull off the chart double here in more than three decades. The last time was in October 1992, when Miley’s dad – Billy Ray Cyrus – had the #1 single with Achy Breaky Heart and the #1 album with Some Gave All.
Bluey storms back onto the ARIA Albums Chart with Dance Mode! arriving at #7. It’s the ABC TV phenomenon’s second hit album: Bluey The Album hit #1 in 2021, becoming the first children’s album to top the ARIA Albums Chart. It won Best Children’s Album at the 2021 ARIA Awards.
BTS member Suga debuts at #4 with D-DAY, under his other stage name, Agust D. His mixtape D-2 peaked at #2 here in 2020. Why Agust D? It comes from the initials for birthplace, Daegu Town, and “Suga” spelt backwards.
American chart record-breaker Post Malone is new at #16 with The Diamond Collection. He claims his fifth top 20 album here including two chart-toppers: Beerbongs & Bentleys in 2018 and Hollywood’s Bleeding in 2019.
The Diamond Collection celebrates Posty’s new Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) record as the artist with the most diamond-certified records in the US. The compilation features all eight of his RIAA diamond-certified records: White Iverson, Congratulations featuring Quavo, Rockstar with 21 Savage, Psycho with Ty Dolla $ign, Sunflower with Swae Lee, Better Now, Circles, and I Fall Apart, plus his latest single Chemical. The latter is at #20 this week after debuting last week at #14.
On the singles chart, TikTok star David Kushner hits the top five for the first time, with Daylight stepping up from #6 to #5, while South Korean girl group Fifty Fifty reach a new peak as The Beginning: Cupid climbs from #9 to #6.
Double Fantasy by The Weeknd and Future debuts at #9, giving The Weeknd two top 10 hits (Die For You is at #7). The new track – which is from his upcoming HBO series The Idol, which premieres on 4 June – is The Weeknd’s 18th top 10 hit in Australia and Future’s second.
