Cold Heart (Pnau Remix) by Elton John and Dua Lipa notches up eight weeks at #1 on the ARIA singles chart. This week marks the track’s 23rd week in the top ten.
Despite Sydney’s PNAU being the ones to remix Elton John & Dua Lipa’s Cold Heart (PNAU Remix) at #1, the highest charting Australian artist this week is The Kid Laroi with Stay at #3. His single with Justin Bieber spent 14 weeks straight at the top of the chart before it was taken over by Adele’s Easy On Me.
Over the weekend, Stay came in at #2 on triple j’s Hottest 100 countdown, just being beaten out by The Wiggles’ Like A Version cover of Elephant by Tame Impala. The achievement makes The Kid Laroi the highest charting Indigenous artist in the countdown’s history, beating the record set by Thelma Plum’s Better In Blak at #9 in 2019.
Seven weeks into its run in the chart, Lost Frequencies and Calum Scott’s collaboration Where Are You Now hits a new peak at #9. This week, the single was accredited Platinum.
As the Encanto soundtrack moves to a new peak at #4, We Don’t Talk About Bruno hits the top ten for the first time at #10. Jessica Darrow’s Surface Pressure moves from #24 to #20.
Gold Coast producer Luude continues his race up the chart with his reworking of Men At Work’s Down Under. Landing at #19 last week, the track moves up five spots this week to hit #14 and came in at 65 in triple j’s Hottest 100 countdown over the weekend.
Nearly a decade on from its solitary week in the top 50, Frank Ocean’s Lost returns to the chart at #32 on the back of going viral on TikTok. Appearing on Ocean’s debut album, 2012’s channel ORANGE, Lost originally peaked at #46 in February 2013.
Albums
The Weeknd holds #1 on the ARIA albums chart for a second week with Dawn FM. It’s the first of the Canadian singer-songwriter’s four #1s – the other three being After Hours, Beauty Behind The Madness, and Starboy – to spend more than one week in the top spot.
British trio The Wombats take out their fourth top ten album on the ARIA charts with Fix Yourself, Not The World at #2. It’s the band’s first album in four years, following on from Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life which hit #5 in February 2018. The album was recorded during COVID-19 lockdowns with each band member in a different location: Los Angeles, Oslo and London. The Wombats have also previously peaked at #2 with The Wombats Proudly Present… This Modern Glitch in May 2011 and Glitterbug in April 2015.
Debuting at #6, Bonobo takes out his highest career peak with Fragments. The British DJ/producer’s seventh studio album comes five years on from previous album Migration (#12 Jan. ’17), which was his first to appear in the ARIA Top 50. Fragments includes collaborations with Jordan Rakei and Joji, among others.
Sydney band Lime Cordiale and British actor/musician Idris Elba hit this week’s chart at #9 with the collaboration Cordi Elba. Recorded in Sydney while Elba was in town shooting a movie, the mini album includes a new version of Lime’s Unnecessary Things, plus the current single Apple Crumble. It’s Lime Cordiale’s first release since 14 Steps To A Better You topped the charts in July 2020, and won them Breakthrough Artist at the 2020 ARIA Awards.
Australian country veteran Lee Kernaghan marks 30 years since his debut album The Outback Club with the compilation The Very Best Of Lee Kernaghan: Three Decades Of Hits at #17. It’s Kernaghan’s third compilation to chart after The Big Ones: Greatest Hits Vol. 1 hit #16 in October 2014 and Ultimate Hits made #8 in October 2011. During Kernaghan’s 30 years in music, eight of his studio albums have appeared in the top ten including the chart-topper Spirit Of The Anzacs.
