Heat Waves by Glass Animals makes it ten weeks at #1 on the ARIA singles chart this week. Four other tracks have spent a total of ten weeks at #1: Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You in December 1992, Sandi Thom’s I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair) in September 2006, LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem in April 2011, and Elton John & Dua Lipa’s Cold Heart (Pnau Remix) in November 2021.
Once again the highest ranking Australian track this week comes from The Kid Laroi, with Stay featuring Justin Bieber at #3. The track has fallen to third place after spending a massive 17 weeks on top, making it second on the list of most weeks at #1 on the ARIA singles chart. Stay is seven weeks behind the #1, Tones And I’s Dance Monkey, which spent 24 weeks at #1 between August 2019 and January 2020.
British hip hop artist Dave moves up three spots to #8 with Starlight. It becomes his first top ten entry on the ARIA singles chart. To date, the track has spent two weeks at #1 in the UK.
In its seventh week in the top 50, Flume’s Say Nothing jumps back up eleven spots to #29. It comes on the back of the release of a remix by French DJ/producer Tchami.
There are only two new entries to the top 50 this week:
American pop-punk/hip hop artist Machine Gun Kelly takes out his first new top 50 entry since 2020 with Maybe at #38. The collaboration with British rock band Bring Me The Horizon comes from Kelly’s sixth album, Mainstream Sellout, which came out on March 25th.
Drill duo Brothers team up with Melbourne DJ/producer Joel Fletcher for Let’s Trot! at #40. It’s the first top 50 appearance for the Western Sydney pair, who’ve been releasing a steady stream of singles since 2020.
Albums
Charli XCX scores her first #1 album on the ARIA chart, debuting in the top spot with Crash. The album includes collaborations with Christine and the Queens, Caroline Polachek, and Rina Sawayama.
Ed Sheeran’s fifth studio album, =, climbs six spots back up to #2 following the announcement of his Australian tour to be held in February/March 2023. ÷ (which hit #1 in March 2017) moves from #17 to #8, while x (which hit #1 in June 2014) re-enters the top 50 at #42.
The highest ranking Australian album comes from Vanessa Amorosi as she makes her first ARIA albums chart top 50 appearance since 2009, debuting at #7 with City Of Angels. The follow-up to 2020’s The Blacklisted Collection, City Of Angels is Amorosi’s seventh studio album.
Sydney singer-songwriter Josh Pyke hits the chart at #17 with To Find Happiness. Pyke’s seventh studio album comes two years on from Rome and includes a collaboration with Gordi on the track Hummingbird. The album gives Pyke an eighth top 50 album.
Finally, British rapper ArrDee makes his ARIA top 50 debut at #20 with Pier Pressure.
