Heat Waves by British band Glass Animals notches up an eighth week at #1 on the ARIA singles chart. Since returning to #1 last week, 47 weeks after last hitting the peak, the single has gone to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time. Heat Waves became Glass Animals’ first US #1 59 weeks after making its debut on the chart.
The highest ranking Australian track this week comes from The Kid Laroi, with Stay featuring Justin Bieber at #2.
Camila Cabello scores her first singles chart entry for 2022 with the Ed Sheeran-featured Bam Bam debuting at #19. It’s the second single to come from Cabello’s forthcoming third album, Familia (due on 8 April) after Don’t Go Yet.
British singer-songwriter/producer Labrinth takes out a second chart entry in as many weeks as I’m Tired debuts at #21. I’m Tired comes from the soundtrack to the TV series Euphoria and is a collaboration with Zendaya.
British production duo SUPER-Hi make their ARIA charts debut at #27 with Following The Sun. Consisting of George Tizzard and Rick Parkhouse, the pair have also collaborated under the Red Triangle moniker since 2012, working with the likes of Take That, James Arthur, David Guetta, Ronan Keating, and Lukas Graham.
American singer-songwriter Elley Duhé takes out her first solo appearance on the singles chart with Middle Of The Night at #31. Duhé previously appeared on the chart with Zedd and the song Happy Now at #27 in September 2018. Middle Of The Night has become a popular song on TikTok.
Debuting at #35, Starlight becomes British hip hop artist Dave’s second ARIA top 50 entry. Dave, who recently won Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act at the 2022 Brit Awards, first appeared on the chart with Clash at #29 in August last year.
Albums
In its eleventh week on the ARIA albums chart, the soundtrack to the Disney animated film Encanto hits #1 for the first time. Featuring songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the album debuted at #29 at the start of January before hitting the top ten for the first time in its second week on the chart and staying there for every week since.
The highest ranking Australian album this week is from Missy Higgins, who claims her seventh top ten entry on the ARIA albums chart, debuting at #3 with Total Control. The mini-album is the ARIA Award-winning singer-songwriter’s first collection of all-new material since Solastalgia hit #7 in December 2018. The material on Total Control was inspired by music Higgins created for the ABC TV series of the same name.
A week on from performing their one-off show in Geelong as part of the Victorian initiative Always Love, Foo Fighters jump back into the top ten from #32 to #10 with their compilation Greatest Hits. Hitting #1 on release in 2009, this is the first week it has appeared in the top ten since January 2010.
Swedish metal band Sabaton score their third ARIA top 50 entry as they debut at #25 with The War To End All Wars. Like its predecessor, The Great War, it is a concept album about World War I.
