Amazon Music is turning up the volume on audio entertainment, announcing that Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers in Australia, New Zealand, and France can now access one audiobook per month from Audible’s premium catalogue.
The move follows the successful rollout in the US, UK and Canada late last year, and positions Amazon Music as a one-stop destination for immersive audio, spanning over 100 million HD songs, ad-free podcasts, and now, storytelling from Audible’s expansive library.
Brand play for broader ears
The integration gives individual and family plan subscribers access to one Audible audiobook of any length each month, which they can stream anytime, even after the billing cycle resets.
It’s an entertainment bundling strategy designed to deepen engagement and offer greater value, all under one subscription.
While one title is included monthly, customers who want more can still access Audible’s standalone plans or buy à la carte through the Audible app.
“Amazon Music redefined audio streaming through the magic of Alexa and innovations like high-definition and spatial audio,” said Steve Boom, VP of Audio, Twitch and Games at Amazon.
“Now we’re expanding Audible’s audiobook catalogue to brand-new audiences.” Audible CEO Bob Carrigan added: “We’ve seen growing appetite for audiobooks globally. This rollout lets us captivate the next generation of listeners while our standalone service continues to thrive.”
A storytelling showcase for brands and bookworms alike
The newly integrated Audible experience includes fan-favourite Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, the classic 1984 voiced by Andrew Garfield and Cynthia Erivo, and David Goggins‘ Can’t Hurt Me.
Also on the horizon: an all-new co-produced full-cast reimagining of the Harry Potter series, set to debut in late 2025 with immersive soundscapes and Dolby Atmos production.
For marketers and media buyers, the tie-up underscores the growing convergence of music, storytelling, and tech.
As platforms compete for ear-time, Amazon Music’s expansion into audiobooks adds another layer to its offering, and gives advertisers yet another touchpoint in an increasingly audio-first world.
Amazon Music Unlimited is priced at AUD $12.99/month, with new subscribers eligible for a three-month free trial. Learn more at amazon.com.au/music.
