The Chase Australia on Channel Seven and 7plus is set to welcome a new Chaser to the team.
Premiering after the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Mara Lejins (27), aka The Smiling Assassin, will make her debut on August 8.
Smarter, blonder and younger than the others, The Smiling Assassin, joins the giants of the game – The Shark (Brydon Coverdale), Goliath (Matt Parkinson), The Supernerd (Issa Schultz), The Governess (Anne Hegerty), The Tiger Mum (Cheryl Toh) and The Beast (Mark Labbett) – who have stood in the contestants’ way like a formidable force for years.
The first look shows Lejins dressed in a pink outfit, matching headband and a big smile.
“I only smile when I’m trying to take down contestants, that’s why I’m always smiling,” she said with a grin.
Her introduction comes after Larry Emdur replaced Andrew O’Keefe as host last year.
Emdur has had a love affair with quiz shows for most of his working life and said at the time, that the opportunity to host one of the TV world’s greatest formats is incredibly exciting.
Previously having hosted game shows including Wheel Of Fortune and a record-breaking 1,500 episodes of The Price Is Right, Emdur has a front-row seat to witness contestants battle the thrilling brainpower of Chasers.
The Chase Australia consistently ranks in the top 20 shows each day in the metro market. On August 1, in the midst of the Commonwealth Games action, the show brought in 532,000 views and ranked 12th overall.
The Chase Australia is an ITV Studios Australia production for the Seven Network based on the original ITV quiz show.
The Chase Australia airs 5.00pm weekdays on Channel 7 and 7plus.
