It’s not ideal to finish the year with your lowest result, but when you still rank #1 it softens the blow. ARN may well have announced who will be replacing Jodie Oddy by the time we publish this. In the meantime, the last survey to feature Jodie and Soda was 10.6%, down from 12.5% in survey seven. All time slots dipped this survey except evening which climbed 1.1 to 10.4%. The station’s biggest share of audience in survey 7 was 22.9% of 10-17. That has corrected a little in survey 8 where they now have 18.0% of 55-64. Nova now outrates Mix 10-17 which makes a bit more sense.
Cruise 1323 10.9% (10.5%)
Cume 198,000 (+1,000)
2020 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 11.1% (9.0%)
Best Breakfast 8.4% (6.2%)
An overall sensational result for ARN in Adelaide with the top two stations. The AM music station Cruise station has been an overachiever for a long time in this small market and it has certainly ended the year with a blast. Helping the station’s overall share is the weekend audience where Cruise is #1 overall on 13.9%. Cruise is now #1 65+.
Nova 91.9 9.8% (10.8%)
Cume 310,000 (-15,000)
2020 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 11.0% (9.8%)
Best Breakfast 11.0% (9.7%)
The station has ended its year with its equal smallest 2020 10+ and breakfast shares. Yet they are still good results given Nova operates on a tight band with little movement. Ben and Liam have been unable to replicate their market-leading survey 6 FM breakfast share, yet they are well placed on 9.7%, less than a point behind the FM leaders. Kate, Tim and Joel slipped a little, yet remain the clear #1 drive show. Nova continues to rank #1 18-24 and 25-39.
Fiveaa 9.8% (11.0%)
Cume 156,000 (+4,000)
2020 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 12.2% (8.1%)
Best Breakfast 15.4% (10.5%)
The numbers backed off a little right across the day and on weekends. David and Will were #1 commercial breakfast behind only ABC Adelaide. Shares also dipped a little in all demos, with Fiveaa’s best ranking a #2 behind Cruise 55+.

Cume 213,000 (-9,000)
2020 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 9.6% (7.2%)
Best Breakfast 10.6% (6.6%)
The station’s second-best result in two years and a much-needed return to form. Breakfast with Roo and Ditts was also their best result in over two years. Morning, afternoon and drive were all up. The new listeners were largely 40-54 where share lifted 2.9 to 17.3%, ranking Triple M #1 in that demo.
SAFM 9.3% (8.4%)
Cume 276,000 (+15,000)
2020 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 9.3% (8.1%)
Best Breakfast 8.9% (7.4%)
The station’s best share of the year is not enough to overtake any other commercial station, but it’s a better result for the station that rebranded during 2020. Breakfast with Bec, Cosi & Lehmo didn’t get the lift that improved the shares for morning and afternoon. SAFM is suddenly more competitive 25-39 with share of 19.2% (+5.3) which ranks it #2 in the demo, trailing Nova by just 0.1.
