Mushroom Group has announced much lauded Aussie music program The Sound will return to the ABC this November.
Celebrating some of our best musical talents since its launch in 2020, The Sound Season three will debut on Sunday 7 November at 5.30pm (local time). Viewers can watch The Sound on ABC TV each Sunday afternoon or catch up with the latest episodes via ABC iview.
Produced by Mushroom Studios and with artist line-up and episode details to be revealed soon, Season three will continue to highlight the vast array of talent within our industry, as artists perform for prime-time audiences on our national broadcaster.
Says Matt Gudinski, chief executive of Mushroom Group: “Giving artists a platform to perform on a national stage in the comfort of viewers homes has been a remarkable feat for The Sound. The third season promises amazing up-and-coming local talent as well as some big household names. As with the previous seasons, it’ll all be showcased via world class production.”
Says Meagan Loader, ABC head of music & creative development, “We can’t wait to share another season of The Sound with the ABC’s Australian music loving audience this November, as part of Ausmusic Month. In 2021, the ABC’s national radio and TV networks are bringing more local music to more fans around the country than any other broadcaster. We’re fired up to continue supporting the industry in 2022 and to reconnect our audience to live music performance – there’s nothing like it.”
It’s been 19 months since COVID-19 decimated Australia’s $36.4 billion Live Entertainment Industry. Launched in July 2020 and created by the late, legendary Michael Gudinski, The Sound’s purpose is clear: to showcase Australian artists on a national audience and help create a much-needed sense of community. “This is about Australian music,” Gudinski told Billboard back in September 2020. “I’ve learned you’ve got to turn something negative into something positive.”
Tune in for The Sound season three launching this Ausmusic Month – kicking off on Sunday 7 November at 5.30pm on ABC TV and ABC iview.
