ARN has announced that Bob Gallagher from Brisbane’s 97.3FM’s Robin, Terry & Bob, has resigned from the popular breakfast show. After an extraordinary 19 years working breakfast radio hours, Gallagher will turn off his early morning mic this Friday.
Of his news Gallagher said, “I leave the show in great shape and I’m looking forward to a sleep in after so many years of early morning starts. I am still very passionate about the future of commercial radio and hope that after a break and enjoying some time with my family, I’ll be back doing what I love in radio.”
Acknowledging Gallagher’s extraordinary dedication and career ARN’s chief content officer, Duncan Campbell said, “Bob has been a constant voice both on air and behind-the-scenes in the radio industry for almost 50 years.
“Bob has been instrumental to the overall success of 97.3FM and has been a wonderful mentor to his on-air colleagues and staff overall and I know he will thoroughly enjoy re-setting his alarm clock to any time after 9am.
“Bob, your passion and professionalism have been amazing, and we are all very grateful to you. I can’t thank Bob enough for his unwavering commitment and wish him nothing but the very best as he begins his next chapter.”
Beginning his radio career in regional radio in the early 70s, Gallagher has enjoyed a wide and varied profession in radio with on-air roles at Triple M Sydney, FM104 Brisbane and SeaFM Gold Coast.
Stepping away from the radio studio in 1992, Gallagher joined 4KQ as program director, a position he held for 14 years. The studio mic came calling and he returned to the studio as anchor for 4KQ’s Laurel and Mark.
In 2006 he joined 97.3’s new breakfast show Robin, Terry & Bob with Gallagher becoming the rock and anchor of the fast-paced breakfast show. The legendary team has worked side-by-side for over 13 years, becoming a much-loved radio show in Brisbane.
