Prince Philip tributes & coverage gives Seven News a boost

The first 6pm news bulletins featuring coverage of the death of the Duke of Edinburgh didn’t lift the TV ratings much week-on-week, except for one bulletin. The audience boost went to Seven where its Saturday news bulletin lifted from 683,000 to 820,000.

Nine’s news TV ratings were steady just over 700,000 as both Nine and Seven spent close to a full 30 minutes covering the death of Prince Philip.

A Current Affair failed to get a boost week-on-week with its audience down from 478,000 a week ago to 425,000 last night. However the special Saturday night edition ran for an hour until 8pm. Nine then screened a Duke of Edinburgh doco – Prince Philip for Queen and Country.

The most-watched non-news primetime shows last night were The Durrells and the AFL on Seven and 7mate. However, both had audiences under 300,000.
