Friday night golden boot: Cats after-the-siren victory boosts Seven’s share

A huge primary TV ratings share of 36.3% in Melbourne helped Seven to another big Friday win with dominant metro primary and network shares. The AFL clash between premiership contenders Geelong and Western Bulldogs secured a metro audience of 651,000 for Seven with 424,000 watching in Melbourne. That was easily the biggest audience watching anything anywhere last night. It was up over 100,000 week-on-week and not far behind the season high TV ratings for Friday night which was 679,000 last month.

Nine

The NRL match that saw the Panthers triumph over the Roosters saw Nine ranked #1 primary channel in the Sydney and Brisbane TV ratings. The NRL audience was 336,000 with 216,000 in Sydney and 100,000 in Brisbane. The previous two Friday night clashes on Nine saw audiences of 289,000 and 368,000.

The channel’s best primetime TV ratings were 360,000 for The Project 7pm. At 7.30pm The Living Room crowd was just over 317,000.

ABC

Vera repeats continued to perform well here with 479,000 watching after 8.30pm. Earlier in the evening Gardening Australia was on 447,000.

SBS

After the World News, the biggest audience was 101,000 for a repeat of The Day They Dropped the Bomb. An episode of Mastermind also made six figures on 100,000.
