After a tough TV ratings Week 41, Seven has finally won a night. But after six nights, Seven trails Nine by close to 10 points in both primary and network share.

The ABC drama Des starring David Tennant had a remarkable increase in its overnight numbers in the week following the original broadcast. The second episode of the three-part series lifted 51% to 909,000.
The biggest audience increase for a commercial program was Better Homes and Gardens where the audience was up 4% to 894,000.
Overnight TV ratings Metro Friday October 8
Seven
Both half hours of Seven’s 6pm news bulletin were close to 820,000.
Better Homes and Gardens then averaged 466,000 across 90 minutes.
Seven’s Friday movie was Pearl Harbour with 224,000 watching.
Nine
Nine News was the #1 Friday program with 860,000 at 6pm.
The Friday edition of A Current Affair was a timeslot champ with 602,000.
Country House Hunters then did 307,000 and 260,000 for two episodes.
Nine’s Friday movie Downton Abbey was on 234,000.

The Project was the channel’s best, but it was down on recent weeks with 346,000 watching.
The Living Room was then on 299,000 after previous weeks above and below that mark.
An encore screening of The Graham Norton Show was on 199,000 followed by another screening of Have You Been Paying Attention? on 138,000.
ABC
ABC News was just short of 600,000 at 7pm.
Gardening Australia (host Costa pictured above) then delivered 466,000 ahead of the final episode of Des on 426,000. That was the best number for the David Tennant drama after 414,000 and 387,000 previously. Watch out for another big increase in its Total TV numbers next week.
SBS
The channel had a strong Friday of the back of 175,000 watching Endurance: The Hunt for Shackleton’s Ice Ship.
Earlier in the night the first episode of Legends of the Pharaohs was on 180,000.
