Nine has won the TV ratings week with its primary and network shares ranked #1. In doing so, Nine’s victory has put an end to Seven’s nine-week winning streak with #1 network share.
Nine 21.5% primary share, 30.2% network share
Nine had its equal-best primary share and network share TV ratings week since the penultimate week of Married at First Sight back in mid-April. Nine won Sunday a week ago by a considerable margin off the back of State of Origin 2. Nine was also a network winner on Monday and Wednesday in primetime.
Nine recorded leadership of network and primary audiences 25-54 and 16-39.
Origin 2 was easily the #1 show of the week with an audience of 1,862,000, down a little on 1,911,000 watching Origin 1.
All weekday and Sunday 6pm news bulletins averaged over 1m across the week.
A Current Affair had a strong week as host Tracy Grimshaw celebrated 40 years with Nine. The average audience of 750,000 was up from 715,000 the week prior.
Three episodes of Ninja Warrior screened during the week, with Monday and Wednesday just over 610,000 and Tuesday on 570,000.
The biggest NRL audience of the week was 396,000 on Friday.
On Saturday night there was more David Attenborough with Life in Colour pulling 389,000 after the final episode of The Perfect Planet did 355,000 a week prior.
Seven 19.2% primary share, 28.9% network share
Seven wasn’t far off the pace in second place, but it recorded its lowest shares since mid-April. It is still reporting to be the only network posting year-on-year audience share growth.
Leading the Seven charge again were the 6pm news bulletins which won their timeslots on all seven days.
The next best performer was the Big Brother finale with an audience of 790,000 and 680,000 for the two segments of the last episode.
The biggest sports audience for Seven last week was Friday Night Football with 584,000.
Home and Away was on 615,000, up from 603,000 the week prior.
Better Homes and Gardens was just under half a million.
Seven had the two leading multichannels – 7mate on 4.0% and 7TWO on 3.6%.
10 10.4% primary share, 17.0% network share
The primary and network weekly shares dipped to the lowest since MasterChef started. The star performer was again Have You Been Paying Attention? although the audience dipped below 700,000 for the first time this series.
The MasterChef ratings highlight was 640,000 watching the Monday episode. All other instalments were over 600,000 with the exception of Thursday which was on 583,000 against live sport on Nine and Seven.
The Sunday Project 7pm clocked in at 480,000 while the weekday 7pm half of the show averaged 466,000, just below the recent highs for the year.
ABC 10.9% primary share, 15.6% network share
The weekday and Sunday 7pm news bulletins both averaged over 700,000.
7.30 performed next best with the show, hosted by Laura Tingle last week, averaging 638,000.
The Friday Vera repeat and Tuesday’s Anh’s Brush with Fame were the only other shows to crack half a million, with both just over 500,000.
Grand Designs, Mad As Hell and Four Corners all got close though in the high 400,000s.
Media Watch plus the new Movin’ to the Country and Dream Gardens were not far off 450,000.
Finding the Archibald finished its three-episode run on 416,000 while the second episode of Win the Week managed 405,000 after launching on 490,000.
SBS 5.4% primary share, 8.4% network share
Coverage of the Tour de France helped boost TV ratings with the highest primary share since January and the best network share since April.
The single biggest audience was again for Who Do You Think You Are? on 305,000, but it was down week-on-week from 349,000.
The biggest audience watching the cycling was 179,000 on Saturday for Stage 8 live coverage.
