Seven’s Friday Night AFL Finals, which saw The Geelong Cats defeat the Brisbane Lions was the top program on total TV, rising 1% to reach a total audience of 1,118,000

Better Homes and Gardens enjoyed a lift of 6% to reach 766,000 people, followed by The Rugby League Finals SF1 on Nine which increased by 13% to reach 745,000 views. 

Baptiste on ABC had the biggest lift on overnight with 68% to reach an audience of 315,000.

NRL

With no AFL to give Seven its regular weekend win, Nine dominated the Friday shares with a network share of 35.1% and a primary channel share of 27.4%. 7TWO took out the multichannel win with 4.2%

Nine  took out the top non-news programs with its Rugby League preliminary finals coverage, reaching 744,000 people. The Parramatta Eels went head to head with the North Queensland Cowboys to claim victory and secure their spot in the grand final. 373,000 Sydney-siders tuned in to watch Parramatta end a 36-year NRL premiership drought to beat North Queensland 24-20. The pre-match coverage clocked 408,000, followed by the post-match with 346,000.

On the eve of Seven’s AFL grand final coverage between Geelong Cats and Sydney Swans, Seven’s primetime news reached 820,000, followed by The Chase with 490,000. Additionally, Better Homes and Gardens reached 369,000 people as Ed Halmagyi made football-shaped caramel balls. 

ABC News clocked 483,000 views, while Gardening Australia reached 339,000 people as Tino toured a home centred around courtyards.

On 10, 10 News First reached 283,000 people, followed by The Project with 238,000 views. On The Project, the team looked at how the recent Optus data hack has impacted the nine million Aussies at risk and what will be done with it. 

Hampton Court: Behind Closed Doors was the most-watched program on SBS with 139,000 views.

STV

Fox League has taken out the top three spots on subscription TV. The preliminary finals between the Cowboys and Eels won the night with 418,000 views. NRL Friday Night Footy took out the next two spots with 179,000 and 121,000 views.

On Fox Footy, the AFL Grand Final Parade reached 49,000 people.
