TV Ratings September 17, 2022: Footy finals dominates ratings

Total TV Ratings, September 10

Seven’s Friday Night Football Finals, which saw Collingwood beat Fremantle by 20 points was the most-watched program on total TV, reaching 980,000 people and rising by 1%.

Nine’s Rugby League Final Series QF2 increased by 10% to reach 731,000 people. 

The World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys on SBS experienced the biggest increase on total TV with 18% to reach a total audience of 169,000.

Seven has experienced another Saturday win thanks to the AFL finals. Seven had a network share of 38.2% and a primary channel share of 39%, while 7Mate took out the multichannel win with 3.9%. 

Seven’s AFL finals pulled in 1,084,000 views as the Sydney Swans beat Collingwood by one point to reach the AFL grand final against Geelong. At a sold out SCG, Swans rushed through a behind in the last few seconds to secure the 14.11 (95) to 14.10 (94) win as 540,000 Melbourne fans watched on. The pre-match coverage reached 314,000 people, followed by the post-match coverage with 228,000 views. 

Additionally, the film Jack Reacher: Never Go Back brought in an audience of 318,000. 

Nine’s Rugby League Final series claimed the next top spot reaching 424,000 people. The semi-finals, which saw the Rabbitohs defeat the Sharks to win 38-12 clocked 412,000 views, followed by the pre-match coverage with 295,000 views and post-match coverage with 236,000 people tuning in.

On ABC, a repeat of Death in Paradise was the network’s most-watched program, clocking 275,000 views. In the episode, DI Jack Mooney and the team entered a nest of vipers when a zoo owner was poisoned by a tranquiliser dart, leaving the family-run business in turmoil. 

On 10, 10 News First reached 167,000 people, while a repeat of Elizabeth I and Elizabeth II: The Gold Queens on SBS clocked 104,000 views.

Fox Footy has enjoyed a Saturday win, taking out the top two spots on subscription TV. The Preliminary Finals between Swans and Collingwood came first with 453,000 views, followed by Best On Ground with 360,000 viewers.

Over on Fox League, the Rabbitohs v Sharks game brought in 343,000 viewers, followed by NRL Super Saturday with 112,000 views.
