Ed Sheeran was at Spud’s Game: Time 2 Talk, TV ratings winner for Seven

The Nine and Seven 6pm news hours both made it just over 700,000 to lead Saturday TV ratings. The next best for Nine was A Current Affair at 7pm on 498,000. Seven’s Saturday night AFL coverage featured Melbourne v St Kilda in most markets with 462,000.

After the NRL featured some entertainment heavyweights in the stand Friday night, the AFL did its bit last night too. Celebrities at Marvel Stadium included Ed Sheeran supporting Michael Gudinski’s AFL team St Kilda. Also watching on were St Kilda supporters Shane Warne and Eric Bana. The game was named after former St Kilda great Danny Frawley. As Frawley’s employer Fox Sports noted yesterday:

Spud’s Game: Time 2 Talk is a celebration of the life and memory of the late Danny Frawley, as well as an opportunity to promote a national conversation that can help lead to early intervention and fight the prevalence of mental ill-health in the community.

The most-watched non-sports shows were ABC’s Death in Paradise on 604,000 and then Call the Midwife on 423,000.

Nine’s movie Space Invaders was on 310,000 and Seven’s Weekend Sunrise made the top 10 with 256,000.
