Seven’s Better Homes and Gardens topped total TV, increasing by 6% to reach a total audience of 656,000.
Nine had the program with the highest lift on total TV as Escape To The Chateau lifted 28% for 267,000.
On ABC, Traces increased 25% to deliver a total TV audience of 353,000.
Overnight TV Ratings, May 5
Seven dominated the Friday night shares with a primary channel share of 23.9% and a network share of 35.4%, while 7mate won the multichannels with 5.3%.
In the AFL, the Brisbane Lions went head-to-head with Carlton to claim a 26-point victory in front of 475,000 on Seven’s Friday Night AFL. 266,000 Melbourne residents tuned in to watch the match. Earlier in the night, The Chase aired to 489,000, claiming the top entertainment slot, while Better Homes and Gardens had 369,000 as Joh visits an eco-village, where the homes are energy efficient and help save the environment.
Nine’s Friday night NRL pulled in an audience of 329,000 as the Broncos thrashed the Sea Eagles 32-6 in the first night of NRL’s Magic Round. Nine’s top program of the night was A Current Affair, with 522,000. The program met a 77-year-old woman who is being kicked out of her house because, as a woman in the 70s, she wasn’t allowed her name on the original lease.
On ABC, Gardening Australia topped entertainment with 346,000, as Costa meets a team cultivating inclusion.
On 10, 218,000 tuned into 10 News First, while 152,000 watched Harrison on alert as thousands descended on Bondi Beach for New Year’s Day on Bondi Rescue.
The highest-rated non-news show on SBS was Supertunnels, with 85,000.

The Sea Eagles v Broncos match on Fox League topped subscription TV, clocking 330,000 views. This was followed by the Bulldogs v Raiders with 314,000.
On Fox Footy, 245,000 tuned in to watch the Brisbane Lions defeat Carlton, while Friday Footy on Fox had 132,000.
