There was more drama in the Bay when 440,000 tuned in for Seven’s Home and Away. Lyrik needed a cash injection, Cash landed on a dead lead and Leah enlisted Roo in her quest to help Andrew. Following the sunny shores of Sydney, 238,000 households hopped over the pond to see what the UK had to offer in Britain’s Got Talent. It was the halfway point of the auditions and judge Amanda Holden ventured to the Royal Shakespeare company’s Matlida the Musical to surprise 11-year-old Olivia with an audition. Olivia thought she was there to see the show; however was given the opportunity of a lifetime instead. Back at the Fountain Studios in Wembley, Olivia “blew the roof off” with a performance of Wicked’s Defying Gravity earning herself a golden buzzer! There was not a dry eye in the house (or at this computer) and it’s an absolute must watch for your Friday! But be warned…grab the tissues because she was AMAZING!

Nine’s A Current Affair (577,000) spoke to the mother of a 17-year-old who died in a car crash which was allegedly caused by a 13-year-old driving a stolen car. She lashed out at Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk for her lack of action on tackling youth crime. Host Ally Langdon interviewed country musician Brad Cox, who performed for her ahead of his new album release. The “gentle giant of Australian country music” also took her on a tour of his farm. Then, Laura Tingle interviewed Finance Minister Katy Gallagher and the show looked at how the  rising cost of living is drastically changing the university experience for some students. Then, 257,000 tuned in for Grand Designs New Zealand. The episode featured Tony Hodge who has discovered that building with the humble container was not as easy as he thought on his unforgiving, vertiginous, bush clad site on Waiheke Island.

On 10, The Project (163,000 6:30pm / 267,000 7pm) told the story of Hugo, once a healthy baby boy is now battling brain cancer. After gruelling chemo, he is trialling a new drug at home which could change the future for many more paediatric patients. The panel also welcomed travelling foodie Alison Roman to the desk. Then, on the heartwarming The Dog House Australia, Zahra and Jack were absolutely smitten with Wolfie the wolfhound, but their daughters were less convinced, before love was in the air when golden Labrador Chai met Laurel and Darrell. 229,000 tuned in to the repeat.

The highest rating non-news show on SBS was The Murdochs: Age of Influence. 144,000 watched the episode which detailed Rupert Murdoch in the lead-up to the Iraq War. Viewers saw him flex his political muscles, where the ratings and influence of Fox News skyrocketed. Son Lachlan also clashed with a powerful executive within the company and Rupert’s succession plans got upended.
