TV Ratings May 26, 2022: The fry is the limit for MasterChef Australia

Total TV ratings, May 19

Home and Away was the top non-news program in the total TV ratings with an audience of 938,000 tuning in for the soap’s first two episodes, an increase of 22%. The third episode for the night had 865,000 viewers, up 27%.

MasterChef Australia was the top program for 10 with 818,000 viewers, up 25%. The Masterclass then had 524,000 viewers, up 28%.

Nine’s NRL coverage of Newcastle Knights hosting the Brisbane Broncos ended up with a final audience of 427,000.

Seven won last night’s TV rating survey with the #1 primary channel share of the night with 20.1% and the top network share with 28.1%. The win came thanks to a strong performance from Seven News (966,000/907,000), The Chase (537,000) and Home and Away, with the Aussie soap averaging 473,000 for the first two episodes and 412,000 for the third and final ep of the night.

The Front Bar had an audience of 335,000 with 221,000 tuning in from Melbourne, making it the top non-news program in the market.

On Nine, A Current Affair had a strong audience of 569,000 viewers as former Hey Dad! star Sarah Monahan spoke to A Current Affair crime editor Simon Bouda, as the man who abused her as a child prepares to front the NSW State Parole Authority. 

Nine’s NRL coverage of the Melbourne Storm dismantling the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles then had 309,000 viewers with 152,000 tuning in from Sydney.

On 10, Masterchef Australia was the top primetime entertainment program of the night with 513,000 tuning in for the air-fryer themed immunity challenge. The show was top two for every key demo last night.

Earlier in the night, The Project had 248,000 (6:30pm) and 373,000 (7:00pm) viewers as the show discussed rising energy bills.

On the ABC, Foreign Correspondent had 343,000 viewers before Q+A had 334,000 tune in.

The top program on SBS last night was World’s Most Scenic River Journey with 173,000 viewers.
