Nine’s A Current Affair (582,000) showed the story of four-year-old Leo Tyres who sells discounted fruit and veggies from his pop-up stand in Gatton, Queensland. After a complaint was made to the local council to have him shut down, the community rallied around him to save his thriving business with 2000 signing a petition to keep his stand open. The news program also investigated the “war” that has erupted in a suburban park after a local council was accused of re-locating the homeless to a ‘tent city’ so they could hold an upcoming cultural festival. Then, on NRL Thursday Night Footy, the Brisbane Broncos took on the Melbourne Storm. 421,000 watched as the Storm beat their opponent for the 13th time in a row, 24 – 16. But it was a harrowing knock to the head that sent Broncos skipper Adam Reynolds medicabbed off the field inside the opening 20 minutes of their clash that dampened the mood. There were fears Reynolds had lost some feeling in his hands and feet; however, thankfully he has now been cleared of any serious neck injury.

444,000 began their evening in Summer Bay with Seven’s Home and Away as Tane demanded the truth from Kahu and Rose and Mali tried to be friends. Plus, there was drama all-round for Xander who just couldn’t catch a break and Remi hatched a new plan for Lyrik.Following the sunny shores of Palm Beach, we once again hopped, skipped and jumped across the pond for Britains Got Talent. It was round five of the auditions and French performer MB14’s beatboxing led to an incredible Golden Buzzer moment from hosts Ant and Dec. Elsewhere, the four judges paid homage to the coronation of King Charles III. 234,000 watched on.

On 10, The Project’s (174,000 6:30pm / 261,000 7pm) co-host Sarah Harris interviewed international superstars the Jonas Brothers who are heading back on tour for their new album and the team also shared the story of Peri Ndakize who has outdone everyone this Mother’s Day after buying his mum a house! The 20-year-old refugee made it his mission before he set out on his own goals. Incredible. 362,000 then stayed on to watch the heartwarming The Dog House Australia. Loving deaf couple Danni and Salomon met Milo — a cavoodle with separation anxiety — and unconventional priest Steve and his partner Fiona, met abused border collie Bear.

Then, at the special time of 8pm, Laura Tingle interviewed Dutton for 199,000 viewers on ABC’s 7.30 before watching Grand Designs New Zealand. This time, we were in Featherston, where Swedish architect Josefine Watterson tackled the challenge of creating a passive house for her young family in pursuit of both a more sustainable lifestyle and a prestigious qualification. 219,000 tuned in.

The highest rating non-news show on SBS was The Murdochs: Age of Influence with 153,000 tuning in for the next instalment which detailed James Murdoch’s rise to the top of his family’s empire. At this point, he was overseeing all of News International in Europe and was seemingly destined to someday take control of the company; however, his fortunes soon shifted when a Murdoch tabloid in Britain was caught hacking into private phone messages. The family was marred by scandal and the entire empire was threatened, with the Murdoch siblings turning on each other like never before.
