TV Ratings July 7, 2022: MasterChef wins time slot as Andy & Jock face-off

MasterChef Australia was the entertainment program of the evening with 871,000 viewers, an increase of 24% on its overnight viewership. The episode saw contestants purchase their ingredients, using time as their currency. 

Home and Away was the top primetime entertainment program for Seven with 694,000 viewers (up 36%), while the AFL provided the broadcaster with 565,000 viewers (up 2%).

The NRL coverage on Nine had 512,000 viewers, an increase of 8%.

Seven was both the #1 primary channel and network last night with shares of 20.8% and 30.4%.
Seven’s AFL coverage of the Geelong Cats taking on the Melbourne Demons had 437,000 viewers, as 276,000 watched from Melbourne, making it the top program in the market. In non-AFL markets, Seven aired a combination of Home and Away (297,000) and Britain’s Got Talent (135,000).

On Nine, A Current Affair had a strong audience of 634,000 as the program explored cryptocurrency scams. Nines coverage of the NRL match between the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and the Melbourne Storm then had an audience of 253,000, with 157,000 tuning in from Sydney. Later in the evening, Wimbledon had 140,000 tune in for the Day 11 Late session. 71,000 night owls hung around for the extended coverage.

On 10, The Project had 266,000 (6:30pm) and 352,000 (7:00pm) as the program covered the fourth vaccine rollout, the Tour de  France, and spoke to Courtney Act.
MasterChef Australia followed with 482,000 viewers, making it the top primetime entertainment program of the night. The episode featured a masterclass where Jock and Andy went head-to-head in a pub meal invention test, before engaging in a three-course menu battle against the four finalists.

On the ABC, a repeat of Foreign Correspondent took 276,000 viewers to Papua New Guinea, before 194,000 tuned in for Q+A, which discussed women in abusive relationships. 

The top non-news program on SBS was Scenic Coastal Walks with Kate Humble with 117,000 viewers.
