Total TV Ratings, July 22
Seven’s The Chase Australia was the top entertainment program in the total TV ratings, bringing in a total audience of 812,000 and an increase of 5%.
Better Homes and Gardens came in second with a total audience of 710,000, rising by 6%.
On ABC, Agatha Raisin experienced the highest lift on overnight, increasing by 25% to reach 439,000 people.
Overnight TV Ratings July 29
Seven dominated the Friday TV ratings with a 41.1% network share and a 27% share on its primary channel. Seven also claimed the multichannel win, with 7mate enjoying a strong 7% share.
Seven’s strong win is thanks to its Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games coverage. The evening viewing brought in an audience of 489,000 as Australia dominated in swimming on day one, winning five out of a possible seven gold medals. The night coverage clocked 471,000 views, while the late night viewing brought in 322,000 views. On the first day of the games, the Aussies are in the lead with a total of 16 medals, including eight gold.

Opening Ceremony: 308,000 (192,000 metro, 116,000 regional)
Evening: 765,000 (489,000 metro, 276,000 regional)
Night: 705,000 (471,000 metro, 234,000 regional)
Late Night: 461,000 (322,000 metro, 139,000 regional)
Seven’s AFL: Friday Night Football still ranked well, despite the Commonwealth Games coverage dominating. 363,000 people tuned in to watch the Melbourne Demons take down Fremantle Dockers to win 12.13(85) to 5.9(39) as the coverage claimed the top spot in the 16-39 age demographic.
On Nine, A Current Affair was one of the most viewed programs of the night, reaching 531,000 viewers. Hot Seat had a viewership of 364,000, while the NRL, which saw the Eels dominate the Panthers 34-10, clocked 280,000 viewers, with 180,000 tuning in from Sydney.
On 10, 10 News First clocked 303,000 views, while The Living Room reached 285,000 views as Dr Chris and Miguel headed for adventure on the North Island of New Zealand.
ABC’s Movin’ to the Country reached 305,000 viewers as the team went up west to the Margaret River region
The top program on SBS was Beautiful Rivers with Richard Hammond reaching 110,000 people.
STV, July 29
Fox League claimed the top two spots on subscription TV. The Eels v Panthers coverage clocked 251,000 views, followed by the match between the Warriors v Storm, reaching 212,000 people as Storm won 24-12.
Fox Footy came in third with its Fremantle v Melbourne coverage, reaching 167,000 people. Friday Night Footy on Fox League brought in 103,000, and Friday Footy on Fox Footy clocked 62,000.
