Seven’s Better Homes and Gardens topped total TV, increasing by 5% to reach a total audience of 711,000.
ABC had the program with the highest lift on total TV as Utopia lifted 102% for 330,000.
On Nine, A Current Affair increased by 7% to deliver a total TV audience of 812,000.
Overnight TV Ratings, July 21
Seven just inched out the Friday night primary channel shares with 23.7% and Nine won the network share section with 35%. GEM won the multichannels with 5.7%.
In the AFL, the Bulldogs went head-to-head with Essendon as the game ended 90-49 in front of 371,000 on Seven’s Friday Night AFL. 251,000 Melbourne residents tuned in to watch the match. Earlier in the night, The Chase aired to 520,000, while Better Homes and Gardens, topped entertainment for Seven with 434,000 as Dr Harry showed viewers how to keep their dogs warm this winter.
Nine’s Friday night NRL pulled in an audience of 329,000 as the Broncos showed up the Rabbitohs ending 36-20. Nine’s top program of the night was A Current Affair which saw 493,000 tune in as the program met with residents who are being swarmed by a flying fox problem.
On ABC, First Weapons topped entertainment with 233,000, as the program unpacked the leangle and parrying shield.
On 10, 208,000 tuned into the new episode of Location, Location, Location and Have You Been Paying Attention? clocked 119,000 viewers.
The highest-rated non-news program on SBS was World’s Most Scenic River Journeys with 87,000.

Fox League topped the STV chart for Friday with the Broncos beating out the Rabbitohs. The final score was 36-20. 227,000 tuned in for the match. Reece Walsh’s try celebration was the talk of the match, with his backflip causing him to throw up. The Warriors beat the Raiders by 1 point ending with 21-20. 160,000 watched.
The Essendon V Western Bulldogs match on Fox Footy came in fourth on subscription TV, clocking 148,000 views. The match ended 90-49 at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne.
