TV Ratings February 9, 2022: Amidst tears MAFS #1 as Seven wins overall

Total TV Ratings, February 2

Married at First Sight (MAFS) continues to dominate the total TV ratings after once again being the top program for the night. The episode had 1.659m viewers, an increase of 57% on its overnight TV ratings.

Home and Away was the #2 entertainment program with 1.024m (up 22%) followed by Hard Quiz with 953,000 (up 13%), and The Voice: Generations which had 942,000 (up 17%) tune in for its finale.

Australian Survivor was the #2 show for the 25-54, with 465,000 viewers, an increase of 50%.

Winter Olympics

The Winter Olympics continues to perform well for seven across a majority of the broadcasters dayparts. The Day 5 coverage was hosted by Joh Griggs, Matt Shirvington, Emma Freedman, Hamish McLachlan, and Abbey Gelmi and featured sports such as women’s snowboarding, women’s alpine slalom, men’s ice hockey, short track and luge.

The Winter Olympics continue to provide positive results for Seven, as the broadcaster records another consecutive day as the #1 primary channel (24.5%) and network (34.6%).

Home and Away has continued to be a nice palate cleanser between the day and night coverage of the Winter Olympics, with 487,000 tuning in to the soap.

Nine

A Current Affair had 635,000 viewers as the show covered the impact that Grace Tame and Brittany Higgin‘s speeches at National Press Club could have on the election.

Married at First Sight (MAFS) had 868,000 viewers as the show waded into the debate of having sex while a woman has her period. The debate started with Domenica and Jack and then filtered out to some of the other brides and grooms. Selina and Cody also hit a rough patch when doing the photo ranking challenge after the conversation moved onto the topic of the bride’s race. MAFS was also #1 in all key demos.

Under Investigation with Liz Hayes returned for its new season with 357,000 viewers. The episode investigates the Crown in a post-Elizabeth world, examining whether the Commonwealth will remain intact, or if Australia will regather the reins of republicanism.

The Project had 203,000 (6:30pm) and 303,000 (7:00pm) as the show also covered the speeches made by Tame and Higgins at the National Press Club. 

Afterwards, Ambulance Australia returned for the year with 284,000 viewers.

ABC

The ABC’s comedy lineup continues to perform well as Hard Quiz was the top entertainment program not named MAFS last night with 534,000 viewers. Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell then followed with a strong 463,000 viewers.

SBS

The top program on SBS last night was Tony Robinson’s Coast to Coast with 169,000 viewers.
