Nine’s Fifth Test of the Ashes topped total TV, increasing by 18% to reach a total audience of 720,000. 

ABC had the program with the highest lift on total TV as Utopia lifted 137% for 313,000. 

On Nine, A Current Affair increased by 7% to deliver a total TV audience of 678,000.

Overnight TV Ratings, August 4

Seven inched out the Friday night primary channel shares with 24.7% and also won the network share section with 35.9%. 7mate won the multichannels with 4.1%.

In the AFL, The Bulldogs went head-to-head with the Tigers as the game ended 126-71 in front of 378,000 on Seven’s Friday Night AFL. 229,000 Melbourne residents tuned in to watch the match. Earlier in the night, The Chase aired to 491,000, while Better Homes and Gardens, topped entertainment for Seven with 403,000 as Dr Harry and Sydney University took viewers through the basics of dog blood donors.

Nine’s Friday night NRL pulled in an audience of 291,000 as the Panthers showed up the Storm ending with 26-6. Nine’s top program of the night was A Current Affair which saw 505,000 tune in as the program met with a childcare manager who exposed the flaws in the system that failed to prevent ‘one of the most horrific child abuse cases.’

On ABC, First Weapons topped entertainment with 243,000, as the program showed how to craft and use the Allener.

On 10, 200,000 tuned into the new episode of Location, Location, Location and Have You Been Paying Attention? clocked 118,000 viewers. 

The highest-rated non-news program on SBS was World’s Most Scenic River Journeys with 86,000.

Fox League topped the STV chart for Friday with the Panthers beating out the Storm. The final score was 26-6. 235,000 tuned in for the match. The Titans V Warriors saw the Warriors win 28-18 in front of 166,000.

The Bulldogs V Richmond match on Fox Footy came in third on the chart with the Bulldogs winning by 55 points at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne. 167,000 tuned in.
