TV Ratings August 19, 2022: Demons defender left in tears on Gabba pitch

Seven dominated the total TV ratings, with The Chase Australia topping the entertainment programs, bringing in a total audience of 821,000 and rising by 3%.

Seven also took out the second entertainment spot with Better Homes and Gardens, which clocked 664,000 views, increasing by 5%. Last week’s Friday night AFL came in third to reach 634,000 people but had a 0% increase.

Enjoying the most significant increase with 59% was ABC’s Time, which had a total audience of 330,000.

Seven has enjoyed another Friday win, with a network share of 35.4%, a primary channel share of 24.8%, and a 7mate multichannel win of 4.8%. 

The winning combo for Seven was a mix of 7News (742,000/7686,000), The Chase (474,000), and Friday Night AFL (484,000).

In a controversial evening at the Gabba, Melbourne Demons’ 18.7 (115) to 8.9 (57) win against the Brisbane Lions was overshadowed by an incident between Brisbane captain Dayne Zorko and Melbourne defender Harrison Petty. Zorko is set to be investigated over an alleged personal sledge that left Petty in tears.

On NineA Current Affair was one of the most viewed programs of the night, reaching 500,000 viewers, as the program met baby Bronte and her family, who can’t leave their home due to Bronte’s rare condition. Hot Seat had a viewership of 352,000, while the NRL, which saw the Storm dominate the Broncos 60-12, clocked 312,000 viewers, with 135,000 tuning in from Sydney.

On 10, 10 News First brought in 273,000 views, while The Living Room reached 212,000 views as Brooke McClymont and Adam Eckersley joined the team for dinner.

ABC’s Gardening Australia reached 381,000 viewers as Millie Ross visited guitar makers transforming salvaged timber.

Lost Treasures of Ancient Rome aired on SBS, reaching 109,000 viewers.

Fox League topped subscription TV with its coverage of Storm v Broncos, which reached an audience of 256,000.

Fox Footy took the next spot with its Brisbane v Melbourne coverage, clocking 229,000 views followed by Fox League’s Cowboys v Warriors game which reached 175,000.
