Seven has continued to hold off Nine in both primary channel share (22.1% v 20.6%) and network share (31.4% v 28.4%) as the two broadcasters continue their back and forth year. The main thing that gave Seven the edge last night was the success of The Voice, with its 712,000 viewers making it the top non-news program of the night. The episode saw six chair turns and a notable performance from bedroom singer Jas Winter who never had a singing lesson in her life, performing Runnin’ by Naughty Boy featuring Beyoncé. The episode was down slightly on last Tuesday’s 735,000.
Earlier in the night on Seven, Home and Away provided a strong lead-in of 485,000 viewers.
On Nine, Lego Masters (654,000) was a close second to The Voice for average metro audience, but the show performed well in the key demographics for the capital cities, finishing #1 in every category. The episode saw the teams create a bridge that can survive two shake plates, with the decision coming down to aesthetics once they survived. The episode was down slightly on last week’s 672,000.
Afterwards, Matt Wright’s Wild Territory had 295,000 viewers as the show continued to catch and relocate crocs.
On 10, The Project had 245,000 (6:30pm) and 419,000 (7:00pm) as the show discussed the debate over the Solomon Islands and discussed the controversial campaign over transgender athletes that featured Australian swimmers.
MasterChef Australia had 498,000 as guest judge Adriano Zumbo returned to the show alongside his Polly Wanna Waffle which was the focus of the pressure test. The challenge was too much for Dulan Hapuarachchi (Fan) who was sent home after producing what he called “rat with feathers”. The episode was down on last week’s 545,000.
On the ABC, People’s Republic of Mallacoota had 260,000 viewers before Tiny Oz continued its season with 202,000 tuning in.
The top program on SBS was Great British Railway Journeys with 172,000 viewers.
