Australia’s best parenting style is set to be revealed in the series finale of Parental Guidance premiering at 7:30 pm on Nine and 9Now.
Throughout the series, parents with twelve distinctive methods and approaches to parenting took centre stage. The diverse range of parents brought unique perspectives, differing greatly from one another and the parenting styles showcased in the previous season. Throughout the series, they critically examined, compared and reassessed their own parenting styles with fresh eyes.
From the Outback to the Spiritual, Gentle to Unstructured, Road School to Influencer, Stage to Slow, Honest to Lighthouse, and Team to American, every facet of each parenting style was unpacked, judged and scrutinised under the guidance of Ally and Justin, to ultimately deliver a vote for Australia’s best style.
The series finale will see the final four parenting styles remaining, Honest, Team, American and Lighthouse take on the “extreme family mission” that will ultimately determine which parenting style is the most efficient.
This month, Mediaweek spoke to host Ally Langdon about how she and her husband made a conscious decision to be more measured when sharing their kids’ on their public social media accounts.
Coincidentally, the subject of the new season focused on just this, with the series focusing on how parents navigate the digital age.
“A big focus this season is to do with screen-time technology and the safety of our kids when they’re online,” she said.
“We’ve got more parents and we’ve got completely different styles…and what you realise with parenting is that as soon as you do with one issue, something else pops up.”
During the June 5 episode of the series, Honest single-mum Kat was horrified to find out that her daughter would not only share her street address online with a stranger but would also lie about it. In an emotional scene, every single parent, including Langdon, felt for her.
“It hit everyone straight between the eyes,” Langdon admitted. “It’s really interesting with different approaches from different parents, some have had really open conversations about safety online and other parents who don’t, and I feel like I’ve fallen into this category.”
