November 17: Mercado’s favourite 2015 drama comes to ABC

TV critic Andrew Mercado’s rundown on what to watch on the box tonight

Doctor Foster 8.30pm on ABC

My favourite drama of 2015 finally makes it to free-to-air TV. This BBC drama, about a doctor who discovers a stray hair on her husband’s scarf, is totally riveting – is he having an affair or is she going mad? Actress Suranne Jones deservedly won several major acting awards for her performance and the show is currently doing a second season which we should see on BBC First next year.

Harley and the Davidsons 8.30pm on Discovery

This three-part miniseries about the history of the famous motorcycle stars Game of Thrones’ Michiel Huisman. Descendants of the original founders have given this show a thumbs up for its historical accuracy despite some “creative liberties for dramatic effect” which all these shows always seem to make.

Chicago Fire 8.30pm on Fox 8

It’s the fifth series of Dick Wolf’s firefighter drama which stars former Neighbours star Jesse Spencer. The series, which has also done crossovers with Wolf’s Law & Order franchise, is also a franchise all of its own, spinning off police series Chicago P.D. (seen here on Universal) and medical series Chicago Med (which screens on Nine next week). Surely “Chicago Law” will be next?
