The 2022 Netball season will premiere this Saturday 26 March on Foxtel and sports streaming platform, Kayo.
Netball fans will be able to enjoy the games during new primetime slots, with matches being played and broadcast live at 5pm and 7pm most Saturdays and from 2pm and 4pm most Sundays.
The broadcast of the Suncorp Super Netball tournament marks the beginning of the five-year broadcast and digital rights deal that the network signed with Netball Australia in early 2021.
Every game of the Suncorp Super Netball season will be ad-break free and accompanied by all new, game- analysis programs.
Erin Ferreira, executive producer of FOX Netball said, “This year’s Netball season will be truly distinct as we ramp up our broadcasting efforts and give our viewers a fresh look. Visually, sports fans will benefit from brand-new views, angles and technology that capture action and movement like never before. Our overhead angles and aerial camera will ensure our audiences get a spectacular birds-eye view of play,”
“We’ll also have net and meeting room cameras, that will allow fans easy access to some of the best netball talent in the country. Our commentators and experts will also share analysis during 30-minute pre-game shows and during the matches. It is set to be a thrilling season, both mentally and physically.”
Foxtel Media and Suncorp have also teamed up to create the My Support Team content series. The series will take star netballers on a trip down memory lane, joined by a special supporter who has motivated and encouraged them throughout their life.
The series celebrates the untold stories of an athlete’s support team and their sacrifices for the athlete’s benefit. It also highlights the importance of supporting female athletes to stay in sport in their teenage years and throughout their lives, a key platform for the Suncorp Team Girls program.
After Foxtel Media’s announced record- breaking numbers for NRL R1&R2 and AFL R1 earlier this week, Netball is expected to debut similar numbers, with the backing of solid advertising partners, including Suncorp, Nissan, Woolworths, Origin Energy, Chemist Warehouse, HCF, Telstra, Harvey Norman and ASICS.
Centre Circle, hosted by Hannah Hollis, will be an hour-long, expert-guided debate and analysis of players both on and off-court, while Pivot will serve to recap the biggest plays and headlines to come out of the weekend and will air every Sunday at 5:30pm, post-game.
Fans can expect to see familiar faces amongst the host of experts and commentators on Foxtel and Kayo, including Catherine Cox, Laura Geitz, Bianca Chatfield, Sharni Norder and Sharron Finnan White, along with some of Australia’s star netball talent, including Caitlin Bassett, Madison Browne and Caitlin Thwaites.
Speaking to the highly anticipated netball season, Director of Sports Sales and Brand Partnerships, Martin Medcraf said, “We’re extremely excited to have the Suncorp Super Netball season finally hitting our platforms this weekend, with the support of incredible advertising partners,
“Visibility of women’s sport has never been stronger, and Foxtel will be looking to push this to new heights this netball season. We can’t wait to see how the fans react to the refreshed look and feel of netball on Foxtel and Kayo.”
