Topping the Australian Overall chart this week is the local version of MasterChef, from Channel 10.
As the competition boils down to the pointy end, the show pulled an impressive 29.95 points above average for the week. This is over four points away from its closest competitor, with The Handmaids Tale coming in with 25.5 points above market average.
The win comes alongside an announcement from 10 that Celebrity MasterChef is on the horizon.
A legendary sports person, an Aussie icon, and a famous actor are ready to don a MasterChef apron and face the heat of the famed MasterChef kitchen.
Judge Andy Allen said: “Melissa, Jock, and I can’t wait to swing open the doors to the MasterChef kitchen and welcome these famous faces. It’ll be a multi-talented group who step into the kitchen, but will they be at the top of their cooking game?”
Dominating the rest of the charts is The Handmaids Tale, continuing to enjoy a strong run after the release of its fourth series.
Last season of The Handmaid’s Tale ended when June and her handmaid friends gave up their seats on the escape flight from Gilead to Canada. They went and distracted guards instead, so that the 86 children onboard the plane could escape. As June ran away, she was shot.
This season picks up where the last left off, with June recovering from the gunshot wound and working out what to do next.
The three Disney+ shows that have dominated the charts since the end of 2020 are still performing well. WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and The Mandalorian take out the second, third, and fourth places on the digital original charts for both Australia and New Zealand.
Prior to The Handmaid’s Tale, The Falcon And The Winter Soldier was the third Disney+ show in a row to hit the number one spot on all four charts after The Mandalorian took the top spot ahead of their second season launch in October 2020. WandaVision took the title as the show to beat on February 2nd this year.
